Witness the enchanting ‘Divine Beauty’ just outside ”Shri Arunachaleshwarar Temple in Tiruvannamalai‘, located in the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu.
In South India, flowers are in abundance, fulfilling dual roles in daily worship (Pooja) and traditional Indian hairdressing (Shikhai Alankaram). These photographs were taken by Mala Chandrashekhar just outside the sacred Arunachaleshwarar Temple in the revered city of Tiruvannamalai. Within the temple’s sacred precincts resides a transcendent realm, a spiritual Kailasha, evoking profound and divine emotions. However, photography is strictly prohibited within the temple, preventing the capture of the soul-stirring ambiance.
This temple stands as the largest Shiva Temple in India, and it is truly a breathtaking sight. The colossal size of the shrine defies description, leaving onlookers completely entranced. Trying to convey the divine experience, whether within or outside the sanctuary, seems like an impossible task. It compels us to contemplate whether the architectural marvels of ancient and medieval India reached beyond the ordinary, transient world, leaving us awestruck in their presence.
