Thirukkanur papier-mache craft is made of coarse paper pulp mixed with limestone, copper sulphate and rice flour to obtain a paste. The paste is moulded into desired shapes and designs by master craftsmen and then an artist sketches the boundaries of the craft and lacquers it with vivid bright colours.
