- By Rail: The nearest major railway station is Kolkata/Howrah Railway Station. Local trains are also available up to Kakdwip, from where buses or autos take pilgrims to Harwood Point.
- By Road: From Kolkata, one can travel by bus or car to Harwood Point (Lot No. 8), which is about 90 km away.
- By Ferry: From Harwood Point, regular ferries cross the Muriganga River to Kachuberia on Sagar Island. From Kachuberia, shared jeeps, buses, and private vehicles take pilgrims to the mela ground and Kapil Muni Ashram, around 30–35 km away.
Best Time to Visit Ganga Sagar
The best time to visit Ganga Sagar is during winter, from December to February, when the weather is pleasant and suitable for travel.
