Origins and Founding
Anand Prakash Ashram was established in 2007 by Yogirishi Vishvketu (Vishva-ji) and his Canadian partner Chetana Panwar. Rooted in the traditions of Rishikesh, the world’s yoga capital, the ashram was envisioned as a sanctuary for spiritual seekers from around the globe. Its name, which means “Blissful Light,” reflects its mission of spreading harmony, wisdom, and inner peace through authentic yogic practices.
Philosophy and Teachings
The ashram follows an integrated approach to yoga that goes beyond physical postures, combining asana, pranayama, mantra, meditation, and yogic philosophy. This holistic system, often called Akhanda Yoga, emphasizes unity, balance, and the application of yogic principles to daily life. The teachings aim to nurture the body, mind, and spirit in equal measure.
Programs and Activities
Anand Prakash Ashram offers daily yoga classes, kirtan, fire ceremonies (havan), and satsangs, fostering a vibrant spiritual routine for residents and visitors. It is also a respected hub for Yoga Teacher Training (200-hour, 300-hour, and 500-hour programs), attracting students worldwide who seek Yoga Alliance–certified courses. In addition, retreats, workshops, and wellness sessions provide opportunities for deeper personal growth.
Ashram Environment and Community
Set amidst the serene natural beauty of Rishikesh, the ashram provides a peaceful and supportive environment where seekers can immerse themselves in spiritual practice. The community atmosphere encourages shared learning, self-discipline, and mindful living. Vegetarian meals, adherence to yogic values, and seva (selfless service) form an integral part of life at the ashram.
A Global Spiritual Hub
With its blend of traditional wisdom and international outlook, Anand Prakash Ashram has become a global meeting place for yoga practitioners, spiritual explorers, and cultural enthusiasts. Its vision is not only to preserve India’s ancient yogic heritage but also to make it accessible and relevant for people across cultures and backgrounds.
