Jute cushions & jute products of India – Buy online

Spread India's Glorious Cultural & Spiritual Heritage

India is the maximum producer of jute in the world. Next in the list is Bangladesh. But Bangladesh produces very little jute compared to India.

There was a time in Indian history, when the jute industry was one of the highest profit making industries in the country.

India was then exporting Jute gunny bags all over the world, and was earning maximum foreign exchange in the country. No other industry in India could compete with India in foreign exchange earnings.

In the mid 80’s, with the advent of synthetic fibre and synthetic bags, jute industries in India started running in big losses, and many of the companies had to be closed down.

Jute, which was the cheapest fibre in the world then, couldn’t compete with synthetic fibre, which was even cheaper than jute. In fact, much cheaper.

For any export import, gunny bags are required, and plastic gunny bags replaced the jute gunny bags in the mid 80’s.

Jute industries are back once again to life, as everywhere these days the world is seriously discussing and debating about environment pollution due to synthetic fibres and plastics.

Market is flooded with eco – friendly jute items these days, and many of these items are handmade. People have simply started loving jute now for its eco – friendliness.

Jute cushion covers, handmade jute bags for ladies, jute rugs, jute gift bags or Potlis for return gifts, handmade jute planters, jute table mats, jute Juttis ( ethnic footwear ). The list is endless today.
